Week 15 Reading: Twenty Jakata Tales Part A

There was once a beautiful lake and in the lake lived a fish who was King. This fish had a beautiful gold stripe that lit up the water for the entire lake at night. One time, the mother of rain forgot to water the lake before a great heat wave and slowly the earth drank the lake until it got smaller and smaller. The lake slowly turned into a pond, and then to a pool. The fish were starting to be eaten by the crows who could easily find them in the shallows, so the King called out to the sky. He prayed to the mother of rain and father of thunder, and they heard his prayers. They sent clouds of thunder to scare away the crows and rain to replenish the lake. The king was celebrated for his prayers which brought back prosperity to the lake.
